  • Your files travel straight between Google and your browser. They never touch a server of ours, because we don’t have any.
  • Processing runs on your device, exactly as it does with a file from your computer.
  • The app can only access the files you pick and the ones it saves to your Drive. Never the rest.
  • Access expires after one hour and is never stored. This browser only remembers your name and email so you can reconnect in one click; you can disconnect at any time.

How to use “WAV to MP3”

  1. Add the WAV files you want to turn into MP3: you can drop several at once.
  2. Choose the MP3 quality: 192 kbps for music, 64 kbps if it is only speech.
  3. Click “Convert to MP3” and wait while each WAV is processed.
  4. Download each MP3 on its own, or all your converted WAV files in a ZIP.

From WAV to MP3: what to expect

The WAV is encoded to MP3 at the bitrate you choose. At 128 kbps one minute takes about 1 MB, compared with 10 MB for a stereo WAV: 90% less. MP3 discards information the ear can barely tell apart, so if you need to keep the original untouched, keep the WAV as well.

Are my files uploaded?

No. ShiftAny Audio processes your audio directly on your device: this tool runs in your browser and never sends your files to any server.

Limits and metadata

ShiftAny sets no duration or size limits: the real ceiling is your device’s memory, because the audio is decompressed to be processed and an hour of stereo takes more than 1 GB. With very long files, we warn you before loading them. The new file contains only the audio: tags (title, artist, cover art) are not copied.

Frequently asked questions

Which quality (kbps) should I choose?

192 is a good balance for music; 128 shrinks the file further; 64 is enough for speech; 320 is the format’s maximum.

How much smaller does the file get?

It depends only on the kbps and the duration: at 128 kbps, about 1 MB per minute. The tool shows the estimated size before converting.

How is this different from “Compress Audio”?

Here you start from an uncompressed WAV and pick the target format. “Compress Audio” re-encodes files that are already MP3 (or another lossy format) at fewer kbps so they take up less space.
