1. Description of the service
ShiftAny is a personal, non-profit project that offers, free of charge and without registration, tools to convert, edit and transform files (documents and PDFs, images, audio, video and others), organised into modules under the getshiftany.com domain. Processing takes place 100% in your browser: files are not sent to any ShiftAny server (see the Privacy policy). If you use the optional Google Drive connection, they travel directly between your browser and your Google account (section 3). The owner of the service is the one identified in the Legal notice.
These terms apply equally to all modules. Some tools may include their own instructions or limits, which supplement these terms without replacing them.
2. Permitted use and user responsibility
You undertake to use the service lawfully and, in particular:
- To process only files that belong to you or for which you hold the necessary rights or authorisations.
- Not to use the service to infringe intellectual or industrial property rights, privacy rights, image rights or any other rights of third parties.
- Not to remove passwords, encryption, signatures, watermarks or other protection measures from other people's files, nor to circumvent technological protection measures, unless you are their owner or have legitimate authorisation to do so.
- Not to use the service to create, alter or forge documents for fraudulent purposes.
- Not to attempt to damage, overload or gain unauthorised access to the sites, nor to automate their use in an abusive manner.
You are solely responsible for the content of the files you process and for the use you make of the results. As processing is local, the owner has no knowledge of or control over such files.
3. Optional Google Drive connection
Some modules let you open files from your Google Drive and save the results to it. This is optional: the tools work the same without it. If you use it:
- It is a third-party service. Google Drive is a service of Google LLC, unrelated to ShiftAny. You need a Google account, and its use is also governed by the Google Terms of Service and the Google Drive Additional Terms of Service. ShiftAny is not affiliated with, sponsored or endorsed by Google.
- You choose what is accessed. The tool can only open the files and folders you select in Google's picker and the files it saves itself. You are responsible for what you open and for the folder you save to, and for holding the necessary rights (section 2), including in folders or shared drives shared with others.
- Saving creates a new file. The result is uploaded as a new file to the folder you choose: it never replaces or modifies existing files. It uses your Google storage and stays in your account, subject to Google's terms, not in ShiftAny.
- It depends on Google. The connection requires Google's services to be available and your account to allow it (in work or school accounts, the administrator may block it). The owner may modify or withdraw it at any time and is not liable for failures, changes, interruptions or restrictions of Google's services, nor for what happens to files once saved to your Drive.
- You can disconnect at any time with "Disconnect", by closing the tab or by removing access in your Google Account settings. What data is processed and how: section 3 of the Privacy policy.
4. "As is" service
The service is provided "as is" and "as available", free of charge and without warranties of any kind, express or implied. In particular, the owner does not guarantee:
- Compatibility with all formats, versions, browsers or devices.
- That the result of a conversion will faithfully reproduce the formatting, layout, fonts or content of the original file.
- That every Google Drive file can be opened. Google's own documents (Docs, Sheets, Slides and Drawings) are first exported to a standard format, and that export is performed by Google.
- That the service will be available without interruption or free from errors.
Performance and size limits depend on the memory and capacity of your own device. The owner may modify, suspend or withdraw any tool at any time.
5. Backups and data loss
Before processing a file, always keep a backup copy of the original. The service does not store any file (files you save to your Google Drive are kept by Google in your account): if you close or reload the tab, or if the browser runs out of memory, work in progress is lost and cannot be recovered.
Check the resulting file before replacing or deleting the original, including when you have saved it to Google Drive. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the owner shall not be liable for the loss, corruption or alteration of data, nor for any direct or indirect damage arising from the use of, or inability to use, the service.
Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be excluded by law, such as liability arising from wilful misconduct or gross negligence, nor the rights granted to you by consumer protection legislation.
6. Intellectual property
The code, design and ShiftAny brand, across all of its modules, belong to their owner. The files you process, and those you obtain as a result, remain exclusively yours, including when you open them from or save them to Google Drive. Google Drive and its logo are trademarks of Google LLC. Further details in the Legal notice.
7. Amendments
The owner may amend these terms to adapt them to changes in the service or in legislation. The version in force is the one published on this page, with the date of the last update shown at the top.
8. Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by Spanish law. For the resolution of any dispute, the parties submit to the courts and tribunals of Spain. If you act as a consumer, the courts of your place of residence shall have jurisdiction where the applicable legislation so provides.
